Antilgė hillfort

Antilgė hillfort is in the territory of Utena district municipality, near Krikštonys village, Daugailiai neighborhood, on the north-western bank of the lake Sylys.

The hillfort was built on a separate hill, the site 85x47m. In the site there were found remains of stone axes with an opening for the handle, a bradawl made from bone, fragments of brushed, smooth and rough pottery. The slopes are steep, 8-25m. No traces of fortifications were found. The hillfort dates back to the I millennium BC – the middle of the I millennium AD.

The hillfort is severely damaged by ploughing and lies waste, western and northern slopes are overgrown with trees.   500m to the north-west there were Juknėnai burial grounds of the middle of the I millennium (destroyed).
