Užpaliai hillfort

Užpaliai hillfort with a settlement, Pilis Mountain, is in the territory of Utena district municipality, east of Užpaliai, Užpaliai neighborhood. Accessible by the road Užpaliai–Daugilis (Bikuškis), going on 1.7km past former farm buildings, 100m to the left in the north.

The hillfort was built on a separate hill. The site 76x22m. The slopes are medium steep, 15m high.

The hillfort is severely damaged by ploughing, lies waste.

At the eastern and northern foothills in the area of 1.5ha there is a foot settlement.   During archeological explorations traces of a cultural layer and fortifications were noticed. The hillfort dates back to the beginning of the I millennium.
